NRDC hosts "Rio+20 to 2015" Conference on "New Architecture for a Sustainable New World"

A recent gathering at Yale University of more than 180 people from 30 countries heard from top leaders and experts on the need for new global structures and approaches to drive action on climate change and the broader challenge of sustainability. The Rio+20 to 2015 Conference, co-hosted by NRDC and Yale, contributed to the growing conversation about moving beyond treaties and vague global agreements to recognize and support the groundswell of commitments to action by a diverse range of actors to take concrete actions on sustainability.

RIO+20
PLATFORMS

The Climate Summit will be a different kind of Summit. It will provide a platform for catalyzing commitments to climate action by leaders of government, business, finance, industry, and civil society. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has invited all leaders to announce bold commitments at the Summit on September 23, 2014 in New York.

The Summit will help also provide a groundswell of momentum for the next global climate agreement expected to be agreed in Paris in late 2015. Countries are seeking an agreement with targets for post-2020, yet many observers recognize that commitments to climate action are needed now to ensure the world transitions rapidly to a low carbon future. The September Climate Summit seeks to provide the platform to catalyze climate actions from all leaders across society.
